"It's good to be back." - Fast & Furious 9 new trailer

What is it?

Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, next year’s The Suicide Squad).

New Trailer

Universal has just released a new trailer for the movie and as usual, it's full of over the top stunts, crazy action set pieces and some fast and furious car chases.

"Now we got cars flying in the air!?" There's some tongue in cheek references to the crazy stuff that this team of street racers have gotten themselves into and it seems as though this isn't going to be any different. There are giant magnets, flying (?) cars, and it looks like some of them are wearing retro-diving suits...? At first I thought they were space suits and the movie was finally going where they've always teased they could, to space. Then I thought they were diving suits. Then rockets appeared on the back of the car that they are "flying" and now I'm thinking they're space suits again! Who knows what's going on in this one!

Plus there's a cool semi-trailer flipping scene, very reminiscent of the truck flip from The Dark Knight. Can't wait to see the behind-the-scenes to see if they did it for real...

Han is back - I'm really interested to see how they bring him back to life. Awesome to see Charlize Theron back, at first as a Hannibal Lecter type, in prison talking to John Cena's Jakob Toretto, but by the end of the trailer she's out and about flying some kind of aircraft firing rockets.

So all in all, a pretty crazy, intense, high-octane and standard trailer for a new Fast and Furious movie. Will be great to see all that crazy stuff up on the big screen (so long as it's safe to do so).

Check out the new trailer below.

There's also a colourful new poster to go along with it.

The Details

No matter how fast you are, no one outruns their past.

2021 is the time for F9, the ninth chapter in the saga that has endured for almost two decades and has earned more than $5 billion around the world.

F9 sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters of the series when it transformed into a global blockbuster. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tblisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.

The film stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang, with Oscar® winner Helen Mirren and Oscar® winner Charlize Theron. F9 also features Grammy-winning superstar Cardi B as new franchise character Leysa, a woman with a connection to Dom’s past, and a cameo by Reggaeton sensation Ozuna.
