Quick Review
The Lost King tells the story of Philippa Langley, a saleswoman in Edinburgh who finds a connection with King Richard III while watching a performance of Shakespeare's play. She becomes determined to uncover the truth about the location of the king's remains and his maligned reputation, and that truth is mirrored in her own struggles with chronic fatigue syndrome and fighting for recognition in her workplace.
Sally Hawkins delivers a powerful performance as Philippa, bring depth and authenticity to the character's determination and challenges.
The movie is a fairly straightforward retelling of recent historical events, anchored by a strong and relatable performance from Sally Hawkins, but with not much more. That being said, your mum will probably love it (my mum certainly did!)
